THE BLACK SHIFT DRESS

Happy Wednesday,

It's the return of the camel coat again I'm afraid. Nevertheless, I love wearing it with this cute black tshirt shift dress. I bought this ages ago from Matalan and recently rediscovered it. It is so comfy to wear and because it's very simple, it is so easy to style. I wore a slightler smarter looking coat to dress it up a bit, but my docs make it more casual for college wear.
I bought this gorgeous moon necklace from ASOS a few weeks ago and I love it so much, it's such a cute detail to add to a very plain-jane dress.

These lovely photo's were taken by a very lovely person, my friend Holly. We hope to meet up to shoot some more outfits soon which is v exciting - check out her work HERE.

THE CAMEL COAT | STYLED UP

COAT - PRIMARK
TOP - TOPSHOP
SKORT - MISSSELFRIDGE
SHOES - VEGAN DR MARTENS

I absolutely love this simple camel coat, it is so easy to style! I threw this look together when I decided one drizzly Autumnal morning that I wanted to look slightly more put together for college. I love the Parisian vibe that the smart coat and striped high neck top gives. I am such a sucker for stripes its ridiculous but this top is unique in the sense it has a high neck but the sleeves are mid-length which I really like. Paired with a more formal black crepe skort and docs allows this outfit to look very simple yet put together. Aside from this outfit being close to the furthest I'd go in terms of stepping out of my normal, incredibly relaxed day-to-day style, it was pretty comfy and with a pair of tights I really wasn't too cold.
In saying that, this weekend it has been bloody freezing - the big tartan scarf has already made an appearance on my clothes rail.
I can sense this coat will be featuring on my blog a lot more as it is such a versatile piece and so great to style up and style down. I also got this from Primark for a mere £28 so it was a very good purchase to say the least.

MUSTARD FLANNEL | COLLEGE GO-TO

I love flannel shirts, especially for everyday college outfits and this mustard and deep green one I found in Urban Outfitters from the renewal rail looks so old-school and is definitely a staple for A/W. I am also loving my denim mom style jeans from Monki which are so easy to throw on with anything, they are my second pair from Monki and I love the fit and comfort of them as well as the amazing quality.
I added my 90's Nike track jacket I picked up in an individual store in Brighton which adds a really cool retro spin, then I threw on my Nike Sculpt's to create an even more relaxed look.
Comfort is definitely a key element when styling outfits for college and this one is a definite go-to, switching out between different flannels makes this looks so versatile as well.

THE POLO DRESS

Welcome to my first post here on 'The Urban Lore'. I'm Ellie, a 17 y/o A-Level student and aspiring fashion journalist. I have attempted a couple of style blogs in the past but I have never had the real commitment to keep them running. However, as I now begin to think about life after college I have decided this style diary and general life blog will help me explore my passions and allow me to express myself and my thoughts through my love of style.

Today was a surprisingly sunshine-filled day as I went to visit a potential University, this lightweight but unique polo neck dress from Monki was perfect. I bought it on a whim whilst purchasing another pair of jeans from them and after wearing it for the first time the other day I knew I loved it. They have so many oversized jumpers and dresses on their website at the moment and I cannot wait to add a few more to my wardrobe. This dress may not be to everyone's liking but I love how different and effortlessly cool this dress looks. I paired it with my vegan DM's, hoop earrings and a few rings to tie the look together.
